EDF Energy: Complaint to the CEO of EDF Energy about electricity smart meter readings (WITH UPDATE 26/6/2017)

Re: Blocks on public access to our Church and State website since 26 July 2016

From my earlier blog post's Update 26 June (8.37am):

"I have updated my blog post of 16 January with this morning's 517th block on public access to our Church and State website since 26 July 2016. The blog post also not only reveals a record-breaking 52 such blocks in one week at the end of April (an unprecedented escalation that kicked off with our focus on Denmark's cartoon crisis; 94 blocks last month), but it reveals the daily targeting to fluctuating degrees of category pages throughout the site which continues to this day."

An unprecedented ten blocks in one day on 7 May with our publication of Atheist Ireland republishes 25 blasphemous quotes in solidarity with Stephen Fry. 11 blocks last week; no blocks yesterday; one block since midnight today (as of 26 June at 8.37am).

The War on Free Expression

This morning we were cut off from the Internet again. See my previous blog post, Internet cuts: We feel we are in a race against time to stay online (WITH UPDATE 24/6/2017 RE: 21st Internet cut since 26 May 2017). EDF Energy have a difficulty putting through a bill based on our last smart meter reading, which itself doesn't register on our online meter reading history. This is the email addressed to EDF Energy CEO Vincent de Rivaz that Declan was about to send before our latest internet cut:

24 June 2017

Dear Executive Level Complaints,

Yesterday I dealt with Customer Services for EDF.

I was told that there was a difficulty putting through a bill based on my latest meter reading. I was promised a call back, which I did not receive. I note that your record of my smart meter readings stopped on 19 June (please see attachment).

Thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter.

Yours faithfully,

Declan Heavey
Managing Director

31 October 2016: Phew! It turns out that we don't owe EDF Energy an extra £700 on our electricity bill this month, after all

UPDATE 26 June (2.32pm): I have updated my previous blog post with yesterday's 26th internet cut since 26 May 2017; the fourth internet cut of the day. The response from EDF's Executive Liaison Team this morning assures Declan that the appropriate actions have been taken to put things right. An accurate bill will be produced overnight and visible on our MyAccount service within 48 hours. Our MyAccount service should also update with our meter reading history within the next five days. Should Declan wish to refer to his complaint in future, his complaint reference number is 282884655.
