No internet access at our flat

In the blog of 21 June “Interception of communications: Our MP responds”, I published NAC Honorary Associate Dr. Jim Fetzer’s latest email to our live-in landlady Belinda McKenzie regarding our on-going difficulties with internet access (see an article in the New Statesman stating that Belinda’s house “doubles as the hub of the British and Irish 9/11 Truth Campaign” here). Well, since Friday Declan and I have actually had no internet access at all!

Dr. Fetzer and NAC Honorary Associate Dr. Kevin Barrett arrive in London in less than two weeks for their international symposium, “Debunking the ‘War on Terror’” (NAC carries the website for the event here). We are all keen to ensure internet access when they are here. This is Dr. Fetzer’s email to Belinda yesterday afternoon (Telewest is one of the biggest providers of broadband in the UK):

Subject: Regarding internet access . . .

Belinda,

You are such a dear. Thank you for passing the telephone to Lola and Declan when I phoned twice yesterday. (And I know that Kevin also phoned Declan, so we were keeping you busy!). As you know Lola and Declan lost the internet in both their respective machines yesterday at 3:00 PM.

That was, remarkably enough, just two hours before Declan, Kevin and I were scheduled to have our first video conference together. One moment they were on the internet, the next the network "Guest" couldn't access it! Rather stunning! Is there any fault with the new modem that a Telewest worker installed less than three months ago?

I am attaching a snap shot to illustrate the point. Also, much to Lola and Declan's surprise, "Moj", the other of your two private networks with BT, wasn't showing in their laptop or notebook so they couldn't connect to it, either. Is it possible "Moj" has been inadvertently disconnected?

The password that you passed to them via the phone last evening--for your other private network, "McKenzie-1"--appears to have been an old one and wasn't accepted by their machines. I know you are out all day today until late but is there a chance that, if you can't recall your new password, you could let Lola use your PC to find it for you?

Kevin and I will be arriving in London on 10 July and need to be connected to the internet during our visit. I hope you can take steps to make sure this does not recur. In the meanwhile, I am looking forward to meeting you in person when Kevin and I are there.

With warm regards,

Jim

See blog of 2 June “More electronic harassment? Fifth TV rendered useless” for a shocking photo of MI5 whistleblower David Shayler, who lived in one of the rooms below us for a couple years. According to the BBC, Shayler “caused the biggest crisis of official secrecy since the spy catcher affair”. As for the TV, it’s not just the World Cup Declan will remember as the one he never saw. Now it’s the Wimbledon tennis too. He says it’s just as well he is preoccupied with the symposium in his spare time!

The Mary Ward Centre

On 23 April, I enrolled on two courses at one of London's premier adult education colleges, The Mary Ward Centre, whose aim it is “to promote public education and social service for the benefit of the community”. I attended the first part of the course in May and I even got a nice certificate but then I received an email telling me that the second part, Access Advanced, had been cancelled and that I would be receiving my refund in the post.

Enrolment for 2010/2011 began yesterday (my course was scheduled to start yesterday too), and so I was there. The cancellation took place, I was told, because almost no one had enrolled for the Advanced Access course. And the reason why I hadn’t received my refund is because the Centre mailed the cheque to the wrong address and it had been returned to them. It also so happens that they typed my surname wrong on the cheque, and the typo would only be rectified by hand.

Although I have now paid for an additional two courses, I couldn’t get confirmation of my enrolment. That will be sent to me in a couple of weeks, I was told. In the meantime, we continue to battle Jobcentre Plus of the Department for Work and Pensions to do training courses of our choosing. Declan’s battle on this front has in fact made its way all the way to the Independent Case Examiner. Jobcentre Plus is refusing him access to a Starting a Business course that would enable him register NAC as a company limited by guarantee (see blog of 30 April “Declan's complaint against Jobcentre Plus goes to the Independent Case Examiner”).

On a more positive note, yesterday Declan finally found a solicitor to represent us. Declan has informed our solicitor that he will continue to build our case this side of suspension or termination of benefits (see yesterday's blog “Department for Work and Pension’s double breaches the Data Protection Act: Letter to the Information Commissioner”), but at least now we know we have a solicitor who is willing and able to act for us. This is huge!

Department for Work and Pensions double breaches the Data Protection Act: Letter to the Information Commissioner

Jobcentre Plus (JCP) is an executive agency of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). On 10 May, Declan requested a copy of all personal data held by JCP in respect of the termination of our benefits in September 2006. First, he was told that they hold no system or clerical records relating to that period and action (see blog of 29 May “Department for Work and Pensions breaches the Data Protection Act”). Yesterday they ran out of the 40 calendar days they had to get a copy of the information to him. A double breach of the Act!

Declan requested the information after he was notified by JCP that we weren’t forced to live rough on the streets of London for more than 2 1/2 years because Declan failed to “sign on” TWO DAYS BEFORE he was due to do so on 29 September 2006, but because he failed to attend an appointment on 19 September 2006 (see blog of 6 May “Department for Work and Pensions rewrites our history”). Just as well we have the letter of termination we received in September 2006 archived here!

Declan’s complaint of 30 April against JCP for refusing him access to a Starting a Business course that would enable him register NAC as a company limited by guarantee has yet to be dealt with by the Independent Case Examiner (see blog of 30 April “Declan's complaint against Jobcentre Plus goes to the Independent Case Examiner”). Today he is pursuing the Information Commissioner, Christopher Graham, to solve the problem of missing data. This is Declan's second letter to Graham, which he dispatched by registered post this morning:

Dear Mr Graham

Data Protection Act 1998, Subject Access Request

Thank you for your letter dated 7 June 2010 (attached). As I stated in my previous letter to you dated 29 May 2010, I wrote to Jobcentre Plus (JCP) of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) requesting personal information but my information has been lost or is not held securely. Yesterday 40 calendar days elapsed since the receipt of my request and JCP has failed to get a copy of my information to me.

I enclose a copy of a letter dated 5 May 2010 from JCP Director David Chapman, stating:

We have no record of closing your claim on 27 September 2006 but we did close your claim in September 2006 because you missed an appointment on 19 September. If a customer misses an appointment we may close their claim with a one day suspension of benefit.

I responded to this letter by asking JCP Chief Executive Darra Singh for the following information: a copy of all personal data held by the data controller in respect of the termination of my joint claim for Jobseeker's Allowance in September 2006 (see enclosed copy of my letter of request dated 10 May 2010 with enclosure).

The response to this request has been to provide me with Jobseeker's Allowance Clerical Records and Jobseeker's Allowance System Records (see enclosed copy of the first letter of response from JCP dated 27 May 2010), but I have not been provided with any system or clerical record in respect of the termination of my joint claim for Jobseeker's Allowance in September 2006. Moreover, I have been informed that “after a thorough search Highgate Jobcentre Plus have confirmed that they hold no system or clerical records relating specifically to that period and action” (see enclosed copy of the second letter from JCP dated 27 May 2010).

I have not, for example, been provided with a copy of a letter dated 27 September 2006 terminating my claim because, allegedly, I failed to sign my declaration (see enclosed copy of the letter of termination dated 27 September 2006). Please kindly note that the aforementioned letter to Mr Singh points out the following:

• My joint claim for Jobseeker's Allowance was terminated on 27 September 2006 because I did not “sign on” TWO DAYS BEFORE I was due to do so on 29 September 2006.

• My wife and I were forced to live rough on the streets of London for more than 2 1/2 years, from 3 November 2006 to 13 July 2009.

• I exhausted the appeals process from the street, where my case was dismissed by Mr Justice Walker of the High Court (Judicial Review), Lord Justice Scott Baker of the Court of Appeal and three judges of the European Court of Human Rights in spite of the fact that I was denied the internal appeals process by procedural impropriety on the part of the enforcement authority (the DWP).

• My joint claim for Jobseeker's Allowance was not even reinstated until 9 October 2009 – almost three months after we gained access to a roof over our heads – because my wife’s National Insurance number was “lost” from the Department’s computer system.

It has been confirmed by JCP Director Matthew Nicholas that my request was received on 12 May (see enclosed copy of the third and most recent letter from JCP dated 28 May 2010). I can therefore confirm that yesterday 40 calendar days elapsed since the receipt of my request and JCP has failed to get a copy of my information to me. Your website states: “Once the organisation receives your request it has 40 calendar days to get a copy of your information to you” (taken from “Data Protection FAQs – For the public”).

Please would you ask JCP to solve this problem of missing data in respect of the termination of my joint claim for Jobseeker's Allowance in September 2006. If they do not, I would request that you consider taking formal legal action such as issuing an enforcement notice ordering them to do so.

Yours sincerely

Declan Heavey

Interception of communications: Our MP responds

Our MP, Lynne Featherstone (Lib Dem), has written to Declan to confirm that she has sent a letter to the Rt Hon. Theresa May MP, Home Secretary, laying out his concerns about having to once again abandon his petition to the United Nation on therapeutic cloning. His petition has already been signed by no less than 28 Nobel laureates as well as hundreds of other distinguished scholars (see blog of 21 April “Interception of communications: Declan writes to our MP”). Nonetheless, in light of (what appears to be) outrageous manipulation of Declan's email in undermining his efforts to secure additional signatures for the petition, NAC Honorary Associate Dr. Jim Fetzer has insisted that he should carry it.

Featherstone's letter to Declan is archived here.

This is Dr. Fetzer's latest email, sent Friday, to our live-in landlady Belinda McKenzie regarding my on-going difficulties with internet access (see an article in the New Statesman stating that Belinda’s house “doubles as the hub of the British and Irish 9/11 Truth Campaign” here):

Subject: Internet troubles (again) . . .

Belinda,

The marvels of electronic communication never cease to amaze me. Declan, Lola, and I are being cut off from Skype with remarkable regularity. Lola finds that, even when she is cut off from "Guest", she can usually make connections via "Moj", which is one of your private networks.

I am attaching some snap shots to illustrate the point. Is there anything you can do that would enable us to have more dependable communication? Today, for example, since 11:45 this morning, Lola has been unable to connect to "Guest".

We would all most greatly appreciate your assistance.

Cheers!

Jim

As stated in the previous blog, between our TV oddities (five lost in ten months) and these interruptions, so much is going on! (See blog of 2 June “More electronic harassment? Fifth TV rendered useless” for a shocking photo of MI5 whistleblower David Shayer, who lived in one of the rooms below us for a couple years.) Declan says he will remember this World Cup as the one he never saw, but adds that the final is one he will probably never forget – we will be watching it in a pub with Dr. Fetzer, who will be here for his international symposium on “Debunking the War on Terror” (NAC carries the website for event here).

So much is going on!

We have a magical, albeit useless, TV. You never know what you are going get when you turn it on – four TVs have blown out on us in less than ten months. At the moment it is unwatchable across four out of five analogue TV channels, the fifth channel, Channel 4, has had no signal all week, but we did have two channels back in all their glory a couple of days ago (see previous blog “More electronic harassment? Fifth TV rendered useless”; this blog contains a shocking photo of MI5 whistleblower David Shayler, who once lived in one of the three rooms below us; Shayler, according to the BBC, “caused the biggest crisis of official secrecy since the spy catcher affair”).

These days Declan is combing London for mosques and related organisations interested in NAC Honorary Associate Dr. Jim Fetzer's international symposium, “Debunking the ‘War on Terror’” (see previous blog). A keen interest is being shown in all three speakers, but especially in NAC Honorary Associate Dr. Kevin Barrett, Co-Founder, Muslims for 9/11 Truth. Well, only two weeks ago former Senior BBC Mideast Correspondent Alan Hart broke his self-imposed rule against talking about 9/11 on Dr. Barrett's radio show:

Our live-in landlady, Belinda McKenzie, is a well-known figure in the 9/11 Truth Movement both home and abroad (see an article in the New Statesman stating that Belinda's house “doubles as the hub of the British and Irish 9/11 Truth Campaign” here). Dr. Fetzer, who funds the NAC website, was put in contact with Belinda last July after he made some emergency phone calls to Ireland and England to get us off the street (see blog of 12 July 2009 “Police threaten us with physical force at the place we sleep, Salters”). This is an email Dr. Fetzer sent Belinda last Friday after I lost my connection on Skype, which I most recently lost again an hour ago:

Subject: Symposium: "Debunking the 'War on Terror'"

Belinda,

It's been a while since I wrote, so I thought I'd mention to you that I'd still appreciate knowing the rate for publishing flyers in large or small numbers. I gather you have the best press in town! Thanks.

I would also be fascinated to know what venue you used for Kevin's visit and the admission fee you were charging. I would not want to replicate your experience, where you had to call off a planned event.

You may be unaware that Lola and I have been disconnected from Skype multiple times this past week. It is becoming a daily occurrence. Is there any fault with the new modem that was installed two months ago?

And thank you (again) for allowing Declan and Lola to use your own BT Broadband network from time to time. Between their television oddities (five lost in ten months?) and these interruptions, so much is going on!

Warm regards,

Cheers!

Jim

More electronic harassment? Fifth TV rendered useless

In Sunday's blog “Are we under psychotronic attack?”, I mentioned that four TVs have blown out in our flat in less than 10 months - the fourth TV blew out after Declan had purchased spike (surge) protectors, and replaced plugs and adapters. Tonight our live-in landlady Belinda McKenzie - a 2006 article in the New Statesman about MI5 whistleblower David Shayler, who lived in one of the rooms below us at the time, states that Belinda's house “doubles as the hub of the British and Irish 9/11 Truth Campaign” - has been informed that two analogue TV channels cut out our three-week-old TV, and that the remaining three channels are unwatchable. Belinda herself has no such problems with her TV in the basement that shares the same outdoor aerial (the rest of the house is on cable). Belinda says we ought to get our hands on an MW1 Electrosmog Detector (see previous blog). Well, an aerial connection cannot blow out a TV, whatever about rendering a fifth TV useless no more than three weeks after the last blow out. (A more recent article on David Shayler can be found here.)

Former MI5 whistleblower David Shayler after he was evicted from Hackhurst Farm on 20 August 2009.

TV blow outs and other such anomalies notwithstanding, the Department for Work and Pensions continues to make life as difficult as possible for us. Declan has them before the Independent Case Examiner (see blog of 30 April “Declan's complaint against Jobcentre Plus goes to the Independent Case Examiner”) and, in a separate case, before the Information Commissioner (see blog of 29 May “Department for Work and Pensions breaches the Data Protection Act”). Yet our jobcentre has us writing to Scotland for letters we need to claim concessionary fees for training courses that we are entitled to as recipients of Jobseeker's Allowance. That's one busy Glasgow office!

As NAC Honorary Associate Dr. James Fetzer has observed, it would not surprise us in the least if the difficulties we are encountering are intended – at least in part – to subvert our current efforts to help him promote an international symposium in London, “Debunking the ‘War on Terror’”. This symposium will focus on the use of the events of 9/11 to manipulate American and British citizens into supporting invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan in violation of international law, the UN Charter, and even the US Constitution.

The symposium is scheduled to occur as an evening event from 6.30-9.30pm on Wednesday, 14 July 2010 in The Large Meeting Hall of Friends House opposite Euston Station. (NAC carries the website I produced for the event here.) It will feature, as speakers, Dr. Jim Fetzer, Founder, Scholars for 9/11 Truth, Dr. Kevin Barrett, Co-Founder, Muslims for 9/11 Truth, and Gilad Atzmon, jazz musician and political commentator, who will offer their assessments of the evidence that 9/11 has been misrepresented by the US government for its own political purposes.

Dr. Fetzer also has problems of his own, and in fact wrote a stunning blog on Sunday: “Cyber Warfare over a 9/11 Symposium?
